Corestone’s Oyster White marble is a metamorphic rock named for its striking resemblance to the interior pattern of an oyster shell. This stunning marble features grey veins ranging from the palest dove to the deepest charcoal, varying in both width and intensity.

The colouring, veining, and swirling across each slab create a visual feast, making Oyster White one of the most sought-after types of white marble available.

Read on to discover the beauty and benefits of Oyster White marble and how it can be used throughout your home or commercial space.

Where Does Oyster White Marble Come From?

Oyster White is a natural marble mined in Namibia, Africa. Once extracted, the blocks are sent to Italy, where they are cut and processed into slabs.

At Corestone, we carry processed slabs in both 2cm and 3cm thicknesses, available in a polished finish.

The Benefits of Oyster White Marble

Like most natural marbles, Oyster White is a hard-wearing stone built to stand the test of time. It has a mild abrasion resistance, and where etching or wear does occur, the affected areas tend to blend naturally into the stone’s white base, an inherent characteristic of the material rather than a flaw.

Oyster White is also fire and heat-resistant, making it well-suited to busy domestic and commercial kitchens, steamy bathrooms, and fireplace surrounds. Its captivating swirls, patterns, and tones won’t fade over time, even when used for external flooring or facades.

Available in a polished finish for a glossy, elegant look, or honed and leathered finishes for a more understated aesthetic that better conceals everyday marks.

Why Customers Choose Oyster White

Oyster White marble brings a sense of luxury to any application, from kitchen worktops and bathroom feature walls to vanities, floors, and beyond. Its bright white base naturally lifts and lightens a space, while the organic veining adds depth and movement that no two slabs share quite the same way.

White marble is timeless. It has appeared in architecture and sculpture for thousands of years and continues to be one of the most desirable choices in contemporary interior design.

Oyster White is versatile enough for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Bathroom feature walls and vanities
  • Kitchen worksurfaces
  • Splashbacks
  • Internal and external flooring
  • Landscaping walls and outdoor features

Does Oyster White Marble Need to Be Sealed?

Yes, as with most natural marbles, sealing Oyster White is strongly recommended.

The stone is porous, meaning it will absorb water and other liquids if left unprotected, which can lead to discolouration and staining over time. Sealing creates a protective barrier that gives you time to wipe away spills before they penetrate the surface.

It’s worth noting that sealing does not make the stone completely impervious to damage, prompt clean-up of spills is still essential. Regular cleaning with mild soap and warm water will keep the surface looking its best.

With the right care, sealing, and maintenance, Oyster White marble will continue to enhance any space for years to come.
