Oyster and Dover White are a natural marble mined in Namibia, on the west coast of Africa. Once mined, these blocks of white marble stone are sent to Italy and processed into slabs. They are metamorphic rocks named for its striking resemblance to the pattern on the interior of an oyster shell. The colouring, veining, and swirling in these create a visual feast, making this stone one of the most desired types of white marble on the market. Especially stunning when backlit. White marble is timeless, appearing in statues and architecture dating back thousands of years. But it’s also versatile enough to use for indoor and outdoor applications.

Help me choose the right material
Marble worktops offer a luxurious, timeless, and unique aesthetic with natural veining, but require high maintenance due to their porous and soft nature. They are prone to staining, scratching, and etching from acids. Twice yearly sealing is required, along with prompt cleanup of spills. It offers good heat resistance but are not recommended for heavy, daily-use kitchens. Our marble has been handpicked for its aesthetic appearance and can be backlit for that extra Wow factor.

Where Marble works best

Marble is softer than either Granite or Quartz so offers a smoother texture and unique veining that other stones can’t replicate. Granite and quartz may be more durable, but marble’s elegance remains unmatched. However, it must be treated carefully, use warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner or mild soap. Avoid acidic products like vinegar or lemon juice. Marble in a wet area must be sealed every 6 months.

Yes, however we highly recommend that you view the entire slab as a small sample is rarely indicative of the complete slab.
Day-to-day cleaning can be done with a damp microfiber cloth and mild antibacterial soap and water to keep your surfaces spick and span. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the protective layer of sealant which is applied to the granite to reduce porosity and prevent staining.
